GYH Authors Assess Transparency of INTERPOL’s Corrective Measures in Harvard International Law Journal
Corrective measures are codified in INTERPOL’s Rules on the Processing of Data (RPD). These measures include enhanced supervision of a National Central Bureau (NCB), temporary suspension of processing rights, and, in serious cases, restrictions (including suspension of access or processing rights) that must be approved by INTERPOL’s Executive Committee. Managing Partner Sandra Grossman, Attorney Ariel Rawls, Of Counsel Charlie Magri and Counsel Dr. Ted R. Bromund – submitted comments on the CPD’s third public request, focusing on whether applicants should be explicitly included in Article 34 “Consultations” when the CCF seeks additional information. The change to the RPD was minor: Article 94 on “Stolen Work of Art Notices” was deleted because, following the creation of a public Works of Art database, the notice system had not been used for years and was considered obsolete.
