Charlie Magri* | Of Counsel

Charlie Magri is a French lawyer whose practice is dedicated exclusively to INTERPOL-related legal matters. He earned his Law degree and Master’s in Business Law from Université Aix-Marseille and passed the French Bar in 2017.

From 2017 to 2023, Charlie served as a Legal Officer at the Secretariat to the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF). During those six years he handled requests for the deletion of personal data from INTERPOL’s files, drafting written materials that informed the Commission’s deliberations and decisions. That period gives him direct working knowledge of CCF jurisprudence and INTERPOL’s decision-making processes.

In 2024, Charlie founded Otherside, a boutique practice focused entirely on INTERPOL and CCF matters. He represents individuals worldwide before the CCF on Red Notice removal, diffusion challenges, provisional measures, applications for revision, and preemptive requests. He serves as Of Counsel to Grossman, Young & Hammond, contributing INTERPOL-specific expertise to the firm’s international protection practice.

Charlie writes regularly on INTERPOL law for leading international legal venues including the Harvard International Law Journal, the International Enforcement Law Reporter (IELR), the International Bar Association, and Just Security. He has briefed the U.S. Helsinki Commission on INTERPOL abuse and appears in long-form investigative reporting in Newsweek, Bloomberg, ICIJ, the BBC, and LCP. He works in English and French.
